Zone: La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample
The Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample is located from the wide carrer del Compte d’Urgell to the Avinguda Tarragona that begins with the Plaça d’Espanya and ends at the doors of Sants Estació. Its surface is closed in the Gran Vía and its main artery, the Av. de Roma, crosses the whole neighborhood in a diagonal way dividing it in a high and a low part.
It is in this neighborhood where the construction of Ildefons Cerdà’s efficient urban plan began at Universitat and continued to the Plaça d’Espanya with its uniform grid structure. However, the neighborhood has a great diversity of properties depending on the time of construction, and depending on what you are looking for, it is easy to get large, single-roomed, old, or new apartments. This heterogeneity benefits the diversity of its inhabitants, services and equipment. Emblematic buildings such as the Industrial School, the Las Arenas shopping center or the large Joan Miró park are a must in a neighborhood with an unbeatable location and good communications, which has all the services just minutes away on foot, such as schools, hospitals, health centers, markets and leisure places, among others. This quiet, safe, open area, where all kinds of people live together, is also known for its nightlife although without being very noisy.
Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample could be your ideal neighborhood if you are looking to live or invest in a dynamic area day and night without being too noisy, well communicated and equipped. It could be a good option if you want to live near the high area but keeping the structure and the dynamism of the emblematic Eixample.
